Mavin Record’s boss, Michael Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has confirmed that Reekado Banks has left the record label. Reekado Banks’ peacefully left Mavin Records last week after the expiration of his 5-year contract. He later announced the establishment of his own Record Label, ‘Banks Music.’ Don Jazzy said though Reekado Banks is no longer bound under the management contract, he is still part of the Mavin Records family. “We will forever be a family bro. As education funding remains a major challenge for the country, Professor Taofeek Ibrahim, the Vice Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, has called for a law banning public officers from sending their wards to study oversea pointing that this suggestion is viable to get Nigerian leaders to prioritize the sector. This is coming as the nationwide strike action embarked on by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to protest poor funding of universities in the country entered the fourth week this week. In Nigeria, Google released Top Trending Songs amongst other trends that went through their search engine and these songs are from artistes that are already dominating the Afrobeats scene. These artistes, according to Google have the most searched songs in Nigeria searched by Nigerians and they are none other than Wizkid, Davido, Olamide, Burna Boy and Kizz Daniel. This list was announced on Wednesday, the 12th of December with four of Davido’s songs, three Wizkid’s, two Olamide’s and One for Burna. The Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Abuja chapter, Dr Kasim Umaru, has said the union has no regret for disrupting anti-corruption event in the institution. The New Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the union led by Umaru prevented Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (rtd), and former Education Minister, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili from speaking at the event. The ASUU Chairman told NAN in a telephone interview yesterday that the union disrupted the programme because of the ongoing strike. He said such magnitude of programme could not hold in the institution because lecturers were also involved in the event. “Those eminent personalities for the programme are all aware of our plight and did nothing; we disrupted the event because we are on strike,” he said. The convener of the event and National Coordinator of African Initiative Against Corruption and Exam Malpractice AFICEM, Dr Francis Abioye, regret
